Has anyone else here developed a sort of love-hate relationship with their Alumacraft jon boat? I mean, I bought one because I heard aluminum boats were “maintenance-free,” but apparently “free” just means “you’ll end up swearing a lot for new reasons.”
At which point does the bailing out water and tightening bolts begin to feel like a charming boating ritual and stop feeling like a full-time job? Also, is there a secret cult that knows the source of that mysterious “clunk” every time I step onboard, or do we all just ignore it and pretend we’re hearing things?
Share your best “is my boat trying to tell me something, or is this normal?” stories here. And if anyone has mastered the ancient art of painting an aluminum hull without it peeling off in sheets, please enlighten the rest of us mere mortals.
